Customers calling for 1141 a lot of times are upset about dealing with fluctuations in their build schedules. A lot of our customers move to customized inventory strategies to help them react faster to schedule changes.
Carbon 1141 is a resulphurized, heat treatable grade with better machining characteristics than 1045. Its higher Carbon adds strength and hardness. It can be quenched and tempered to high strength. Its higher sulfur content aids machinability.
Carbon 11L41 is a leaded and resulphurized heat treatable steel. It machines even better than 1141.
