Aluminum 2024 is a grade of aluminum with good machinability and machined surface finish capacity. It is a high strength material of adequate workability. It has largely superseded grade 2017 for structural applications. It displays excellent strength, as much as 50% more than mild steel. It is commonly used in aircraft applications. It also shows fair corrosion resistance.
